Our Dachuahua~ Nina

So, as many here know, we basically run our own rescue. Any unwanted, abandoned, throw-away animal seems to find their way to us.

Casey came to us because my brother's GF's son loved him as a pup, but, as he got older, he was going to give him to a friend...that my brother knew fought Pitts. As a Lab/Pitt mix, we knew what would happen to him, so, come on in!! He has the temperament of a Lab, a real sweetie!

Sadie showed up in my yard in February 2002. She was approx. 5 mos old. Imagine my surprise when I opened my back door and found this sweet little puppy sound asleep on the porch. How exactly did she get into my fenced yard?? Human intervention, is my guess.

Cassie came all the way from Maryland to live with us, via my daughter...daughter couldn't keep her, so, here she is!

Cleo and her sister, Yow-Yow, came home with us from a garage sale shortly after we were married in 2004. Two little kittens running around and hubby asked, "Why don't they have price tags"-joking, of course! Lady said, we were hoping to find them good, free homes...Well, we couldn't break up the set!!

Brady, dear sweet Brady. My son got him from an animal rescue when he was just 6 weeks old. Brady loves kids and his "Daddy", but, other women-ahem, girlfriend-not so much. So, he came to live with us.

Nina, Nina is a story! My daughter found her in the middle of a very busy road and almost got hit by a car herself, rescuing her from the road. Poor Nina was approx. 2 y/o yet, the Vet felt she'd had many more than just one or two litters. Oddly enough, not far from where she was found is a home that ALWAYS has Chihuahua and Dachshund puppies for sale...I guess Nina may have been a result of that place and she ran away to help herself find a warm and loving home!

***All of our animals (10 dogs/9 cats) are spayed or neutered!!***

Happy post V-day Rach, and I see your little Valentines are happy and content and love you. My cat hates me, it does things to me to aggravate me all the time, like taking things off my dresser and putting them in my shoes, and leave his food out on the floor and they snap, crackle and pop, under your feet in the morning as you go by. He will run and fall down in the dark at the top of the steps, so I will kill myself, when I trip over him, and then looks at me like I'm the bastard. On the computer, so is he, eating, he wants half, taking a shower, he sits on the edge and claws at me, shave, he has to lay in the sink. But I wouldn't have it any other way, except for the steps thingy.

rachel,

my cat has the hots for your cassie, maybe we should hook them up. And it would be cattal too, since your cat is white and mine is black, definitely politically correct

DISCLAIMER DISCLAIMER: My previous comment about the previous comment is not meant to be taken seriously as I am in a completely sarcastic mood to try to preserve what little sanity I have left (this is my Stephen Colbert disclaimer to the john kyl disclaimer).

Now for my next activity, I am off to the camera store to swallow a disposable camera to give myself an intestinal scan. Anyone want a set of doubles? they are running for 1 dollar per set. :P

rachel.

you should read my new article (yes it is satire, but you need to read it as though it is serious). I am just in that kind of mood today.

by the way, I don't know about the link anymore, (I probably should have bookmarked it) but the stephen colbert report where the disclaimer disclaimer and the camera exam came from was drop dead funny, so funny that even colbert couldn't keep a straight face, he had to stop several times. And for him, that is 'holy @!$%# that is bad' funny.

oh, and scrapper is probably the suckiest cat on the planet. He recently went on strike because he wanted the day to be extended 8 hours so that he could get a proper day and nights sleep. :P He needs to be beaten up here and there, even if it is by a girly cat. :P

lol

Yup, I've heard the Chi-wienie, but ,I called her Dachuahua to our Vet and he cracked up laughing and he said he would start using it...with credit to me! LOL

Maybe if they look more Dachshund it's Dachuahua and more Chihuahua it's Chi-wienie??

LOL! I'm not sure where Chico would fit then. He has the long body of a Dachshund, the longer legs of a Chihuahua and a face that is kind of a mixture of both.

OMGoodness. I just now found this. I have been so not getting around to everyone's articles. Forgive me.

I find it interesting that dogs know and appreciate that they were rescued from a bad situation. I have rescued my share of dogs and they never forget that you took them in and gave them a home. And, they show their appreciation in many loving ways for the rest of their little lives. I am convinced that they are sentient beings and they do, indeed, know what gratitude really is.

Thanks for saving these animals, Rachael. You are doing good work.

Wolves aren't fearsome....they've been portrayed for centuries as bad & evil, kinda like what modern society is doing to the Pitt Bull!! Both unfairly, imo!!

They were very fearsome when we were hunter gatherers long ago. I don't see them as fearsome now or dangerous, either.

I really don't like the way some pit bull owners train their dogs to be mean by mistreating them. Treat any dog that way and you will have problems.
